Dammit, I JUST ordered a 28" two days ago.

edit: HANG ON. I JUST ordered the SAME 28" two days ago. I'll return the one I ordered and take you up on your offer Bromeinhower!

2nd edit: Just put through the cancel request.

3rd edit: They had already given it to UPS and the non-refundable shipping & handling was $50. After factoring in the cost of sending it back and the overall hassle I think I'll just stick with the one that is on it's way.

When Emily and I first started going out we weren't allowed to watch any Scarlett Johansson films because of how rediculously hot I found her.

I would probably go down a step on the sub bringing them to $1625 but yeah it's starting to edge towards the top end of what I'm prepared to spend on the speakers.

General Discussion / Looking for sound advice!

So, the tv looks great and blu-rays are very pretty but the next step is for them to sound pretty. Since Microsoft have insisted on giving me two back to back 60hr weeks with another around the corner I might as well enjoy that overtime cash.

I left my old sound system back in the UK which I was very fond of (B&W 603s with a really nice Marantz amp / cd player) and am now looking to a sound system for the US since it looks like I'm going to be sticking around.

I'm looking for a 5.1 but space is an issue. Emily really doesn't want large floor standers and chunky bookshelves round the back so we've been considering the Bose cubes as an option. Anyone have a set or tried listening to them while purchasing their sound system. Also where are good places to get a deal on buying these sorts of things?

Many thanks in advance!

These are for stent

Somebody needs to tell this white kid with bracers in suburbia that not everybody in the world has both the access and the "right" to express themselves.

When did Stent get bracers?

Charge him full DKP imo.

Fuck me it's big.

Big screen's may stun you for a bit at first, but give it a few years and you will eventually be so used to it's size that you'll want to go larger.

Oh, I'm sure I won't be happy until I have a whole wall dedicated to being a screen in the long run. On a side note once I get my own VGA cable (had to steal Emi's) I am definitely going to play WoW on this beast.

We ended up buying this as BestBuy instead as it came out a little bit cheaper and they didn't have the Panasonic in stock.

It arrives on Wednesday and it'll probably take up half the lounge. With some cabling, a screen cleaner and a surge protector the whole thing came is just under $2k with tax and it's got a lot of great reviews so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the advice all and hopefully this is the end of this TV purchasing fiasco.

Television Update:

So we ended up buying a 50" Panasonic Viera from Sears. We paid $775 before tax for it. We got 10% off because we bought a floor model since they were completely out of stock and it was apparant after looking around on the internet that this item was discontinued, hence the low price. We got it home and plugged it in and to much sadness the first thing I noticed was screen burn of the set up menu on the left hand side that was really bad. You could clearly read the lettering when the screen was black. We are going to return it tonight and have a look at the other floor model they had in store to check for screen burn. If neither works I'm pretty sure we're going to go to Best Buy and purchase this:

The box is too big for us to take it home ourselves so we would have to go with the delivery option but I would imagine that since Best Buy handle their own deliveries they would actually take care of it....hopefully.

Just been to Sears. Veering towards a samsung (LN52B750). After seeing the two next to each other. The samsung is also 240, so they are in the market.
